"The number 504 is significant in regards to my relationship with the work of Felix Gonzalez-Torres. Thus I will limit the amount of fortune cookies to 504 in total. For the initial installation I have provided half that
number, 252 fortune cookies. They are installed in a courtyard accessed by several apartment buildings. I placed them on a table to imply an offering, and because there were several tables onsite."
"While putting out the Fortune Cookies I was thinking of the words "fortune" and "future" as being interchangeable. I felt as if the act of placing the Cookies was one of giving back futures in a context where so many have recently been lost."
